Performs complex repairs on tractors and trailers and yard tractors.
Identifies and monitors problems to provide recommendation to repair or replace.
Essential Functions:
oPerform Preventive Maintenance, Inspections and General Repairs oAir and Hydraulic Brake Diagnostics & Repairs including ABS systems oElectrical Diagnostics and Repair oDiagnose and repair Liftgate systems, Weld and Fabricate as needed oDiagnose drivelines, steering, suspensions and repair oRepair order entry and time accountability in RTA Maintenance Program oCharge all parts to repair orders oPerform Tire and Wheel End Maintenance as needed oPerform quality work and quantity production oAssist and mentor junior mechanics to broaden their knowledge base.
oPerforms other relevant job duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and
Experience:
oHigh School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience
Experience:
oPreferred 2 years mechanical experience in related mechanical field or technical training and 1 year of experience.
oHave all hand tools required for applicable areas.
oExperience in driving/moving Class A equipment preferred oCertifications in tire and wheel, brakes, HVAC, FHWA DOT Inspections preferred Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
oHave all hand tools required for applicable areas.
oMust be able to repair brakes, rear doors, air systems, and electrical systems with minimal supervision oMust work well independently and as a team to achieve goals oMust have a valid driver's license, 21 years of age or older PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
oWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
oIncumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday oStooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties oAbility to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
oExposed to temperatures ranging from 20 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in shop operation.
oAbility to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
oMust be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in, on, or under the equipment.
oRequires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
